SharePoint Information Architecture: Case study of a OOTB Knowledge Base
Abstract:
SharePoint 2010 has a wide range of information and content management tools. Unfortunately these out of the box features are not always leveraged effectively. One of the biggest benefits of using SharePoint is the ability to make content find-able through these content management capabilities such as the term store, metadata navigation in lists and search. This case study will review the process and technology used to take an ad hoc developed wiki to a full knowledge base with governance and standards. It was developed using "out of the box" SharePoint functionality and this session will include a breakdown of the native SharePoint features that were used.
Speaker: Dulcie Jones
Dulcie is an information systems strategic leader with over 15 years of experience in a variety of information technology and systems projects, and in guiding the vision for technology implementation throughout organizations. She is a trained and experienced solution architect, business analyst, instructional designer, application developer, and project management professional (PMP). She has specialized in SharePoint related projects the last 5 years.

SharePoint 2013: What’s New for Web Content Management for Developers
Start Time:
Doors open at 5:00pm. Meeting starts at 5:30pm.
Presentation:
SharePoint 2013: What’s New for Web Content Management for Developers
Abstract:
With powerful new content search capabilities, metadata driven navigation, and new features such as design manager and cross site publishing, this presents a paradigm shift for developers with a focus on WCM publishing sites (intranet, internet). These new features and capabilities will be presented at an introductory level during this talk. The session will then focus on your typical Visual Studio “Publishing Solution” in SharePoint 2010. How do you get this running on a SharePoint 2013 Farm “as is” (migration)? What is involved if I want to convert my existing visual studio solution to SP 2013 developer tools and then fully over to the SP 2013 publishing paradigm? We’re already in development of a SharePoint 2010 site - can we deploy SharePoint 2013 now or should we wait? This session will provide insight into how you should develop today, and be ready for the new world that awaits in SharePoint 2013!
